Turn Grant Opportunities Into Funding: Join Us August 26

If grant writing feels overwhelming—or your organization wants to become more strategic about finding and pursuing funding opportunities—the next Nonprofit Success Workshop is for you.

Join us Wednesday, August 26, from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the Wimberly Center for a free, practical workshop designed to help nonprofits become more prepared, confident and competitive grant seekers.

Presented by the Barrow Community Foundation, Barrow County Family Connection and the Wimberly Center, the workshop will be led by Laura Green of Ovation Funding Solutions. Laura is a Certified Grant Writer® and former nonprofit executive director who now helps organizations identify funding opportunities, strengthen their grant strategies and prepare compelling proposals.

Because Laura has been on the nonprofit side of the table, she understands the challenges organizations face when staff time is limited and grant deadlines come quickly. Her approach is practical, focused and designed to help nonprofits build a process they can use again and again.

During the workshop, Laura will walk participants through the grant-writing process from beginning to end, including:

  • Preparation: Getting your organization grant-ready with strong mission language, budgets, demographics, program descriptions and other information funders commonly request.
  • Research: Learning where and how to find grant opportunities, identify open applications and determine which opportunities are truly a good fit.
  • Application Writing: Understanding the keys to clear, persuasive and competitive proposals that communicate your organization’s work and impact.

The goal is to help participants move beyond simply reacting to grant deadlines and instead build a stronger foundation for pursuing funding opportunities successfully.

The August 26 workshop is completely free.

Put What You Learn Into Practice

For participants who want to go a step further, Laura will also lead two Hands-On Coaching Sessions on September 2 and September 16 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Wimberly Center.

These sessions are designed for participants who are ready to work on actual grant applications. Laura will provide guidance, feedback and coaching as participants move through the application process.

The cost is $50 for both sessions, and participation is limited to just 10 people to allow for meaningful, individualized support.

Attendance at the August 26 workshop is required before participating in the coaching sessions.

Workshop participants are invited to stay, connect with other local organizations and community partners, and continue the conversation about strengthening services and impact across Barrow County.

Those who wish to attend the Collaborative Meeting and lunch must register separately.

Grant funding can help organizations expand programs, reach more people and create greater impact—but success starts with being prepared.

Whether your organization is new to grant writing or simply wants to improve its approach, the August 26 Nonprofit Success Workshop offers practical tools, expert guidance and a chance to build skills you can put to work right away.

Join us August 26—and if you’re ready to turn those skills into action, reserve one of the 10 coaching spots while they’re available.
